End of Spring Training

The yankees have completed all preseason games in Florida. They have a standing of 14-16. They will now travel out west until they return for the Yankee Stadium home opener. On Friday and Saturday, they will play the Arizona Diamondbacks in Chase Field (formerly Bank One Ballpark) in Phoenix, Arizona. Sunday will be an off day, and from Monday to Wednesday, the yankees will start the season with a three game series against Oakland. All of those first 3 games will start at 10:05 PM eastern time. On Friday, they will head to Anaheim for a three game series against the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim). Then finally, on April 11, the yankees will play at home vs the Kansas City Royals. The probable starting pitchers for the Oakland series are: Randy Johnson (NYY) vs. Barry Zito (OAK) in game 1, Mike Mussina (NYY) vs. Rich Harden (OAK) in game 2, and Chien Ming Wang (NYY) vs. Dan Haren (OAK) in game 3. That's it for this post, I will write again soon perhaps before the season starts or after the first game

Yankees vs. Red Sox

Tonight, the yankees and red sox played against each other for the only time this spring. The yankees won the game 5-4. The yankees took the lead first, but the red sox would then take the lead 3-2 for a few innings. In the top of the 9th inning, Kyle Farnsworth was pitching and the New York led 5-3. He gave up a solo homer, but the yankees still won when Bubba Crosby caught the last out. Also, before the game, Jorge Posada got hit by a ball thrown at his face by Kelly Stinnett. He'll be out for a few games now. Well, opening day is less than 2 weeks away now. The World Baseball Classic is also over. Japan defeated Cuba in the final by the way. I'm ready for the season to start and hopefully end with a 27th world championship.

Yankees vs. Cardinals 3/14/06

On Tuesday, March 14, I went to Legends Field for a spring training game. As I said I would, I'll write about what happened there. I was able to get some autographs including Andy Phillips'. Randy Johnson was the starter and for the first four innings he did really good, allowing no runs and just one hit. In the bottom of the 4th, Robinson Cano hit a solo homer. This broke the scoreless tie. At the top of the 5th, the Cardinals would score 3 runs and for the rest of the game, keep getting hits. During the 6th inning, Mariano Rivera came out to pitch, and he had a quick 1-2-3 inning. Several other pitchers such as Mike Myers, Tanyon Sturtze, and Kyle Farnsworth would also pitch in the later innings. At the end of the game, the Cardinals won 4-3. However, the next day, the Yankees would get a win. Soon, I'll post again to comment more on their spring training.

USA beats Japan, next spring training game

Yesterday in the World Baseball Classic, Team USA defeated Japan after a controversial, and wrong call about a play on third base. But the tie was broken and the game won when Arod got an rbi hit. The yankees are playing in spring training without all their best players, but they're still doing pretty well. As I've said many times, tomorrow is the day I go to one more game at Legends Field in Tampa. The Yankees will host the St. Louis Cardinals, the game begins at 1:15. The weather should be decent tomorrow. I'll write about what I see when I get back. Until then, there's not much to write, the yankees lost to Pittsburgh today after coming back within 1 run. I'll probably post about tomorrow's game either tomorrow night or the next day.

An update

There's not much to say during spring training, but since I last posted, the yankees won 1 game and lost 1 game. Next Tuesday, I'll go to another game and then I will write about that. I'm surprised that team USA lost to Canada yesterday in the world baseball classic. They can still advance, but I'm surprised they lost with all their great players including many yankees. I'll post again soon.

Spring Training So Far

So far, the yankees have played 6 preseason games. They lost the first 3 and then won the next 3. Here are the scores for the 6 games they already played: PHI 6 : NYY 3 (March 2)PHI 11 : NYY 10 (March 3) CIN 4 : NYY 1 (March 4) NYY 3 : TOR 2 (March 5) NYY 11 : TOR 8 (March 6) NYY 5 : MIN 0 (March 7) I was at the first game, and I will also go to the game against the Cardinals on March 14. On his second pitch, Johnny Damon hit a double, he would also hit a single in his first appearance. He only played about 5 innings and went 2-3. I think he was off to a great start, and overall, the yankees look pretty good this year. I can see them getting to the postseason again this year. With Damon leading off and other great hitters such as Jeter, Arod, Sheffield, and Matsui, and good pitching with Randy Johnson and Mariano Rivera, I think their chances are really good.

My first post

Hi, yankees fans. This is my first post of this new blog. I am a fan of the New York Yankees and I decided to create a blog just in time for the 2006 season. I will try to post as often as I can, though I can't say exactly how often that will be. This blog will contain yankees news and comments on recent games and events. I will keep track of the yankees throughout the year and post on how well they'll obviously do. I welcome any posts from yankee fans or anyone else who is reading this blog. I live in Florida, though I was born in New York, and I have already gone to the yankees' first spring training game. I'm also going to another game next week. So that's it for this first post, I look forward to posting opinions, news, scores etc. during this season.
