The 2007 Campaign is Underway!!!

Hello readers, the offseason is officially over and I'm ready to start blogging again for the 2007 season. Yesterday, pitchers and catchers started reporting to Legends Field for training camp. Today, they're starting their first workouts. In a few days, all the position players will report, and the first spring training game will be played on March 1st.

I'm very excited for the new year to begin. I'm hoping we can make up for last year's defeat and end our title "drought" this October. The main stories so far are about Bernie Williams and Mariano Rivera. Bernie has rejected the yankees' offer to come to spring training while understanding he would have a very diminished role. He also rejected the offer to be sent to the minors. I can agree with him on that. It's insulting to think of Bernie Williams finishing his career as a minor leaguer. It would be better to just retire.

Mariano's future, as well as Joe Torre's, are also foggy. Both of their contracts expire at the end of this year. They both are saying that they want to worry about this year first before considering where they'll be next year. I'm sure we'll renew Mo for 2008, but I'm not sure if Torre will be back. That decision will have to be a personal one.
