Huge Opening Day win for Yankees

Monday night, the New York Yankees defeated the Oakland A's 15-2. The game seemed over since the 2nd inning, when Arod hit a grand slam, the first yankee homer of the year that made the score 7-0. Barry Zito was forced out after only 1 1/3 innings pitched, his shortest start ever. Meanwhile, Randy Johnson pitched very well, giving up only 1 solo home run, 5 hits, no walks, and getting 3 strikeouts, all in 7 innings. Tanyon Sturtze pitched in the 8th for the yankees, and Ron Villone finished it in the 9th. Hideki Matsui reached base on all 6 of his plate appearances, making him one of the many great players on the lineup. I know the yankees said they were going to play more small ball this year, but when you can hit so well, it's not always necessary. So overall, the offense was amazing, the pitching was also very good, and there were good defensive plays, especially by Arod. Now, tonight is game 2 of this 3 game series in Oakland. It will take place at 10:05 again. Mike Mussina will face Rich Harden of the A's. Good luck Yankees!
