Yankees take 1st place

Since I last posted, the yankees have overtaken 1st place in the AL east. They are continuing to play their best baseball of the season. They have won 9 of the last 11 games and 19 out of 25 games. At the trade deadline we picked up Bobby Abreu, Corey Lidle, and Craig Wilson. Lidle's first start as a yankee was a very good one. He went 6 innings and gave up just 1 run. Abreu and Wilson have also been doing a very good job since arriving. Wang almost had back to back complete game shutouts when he pitched 8 shutout innings against the blue jays but was pulled before the 9th. The yankees swept toronto in that series. Tonight is the rubber match of a series with the orioles. Hopefully they can keep this momentum going and stay in 1st place.
